Errata is entirely fictional. The Lancheng Evening Post, the Xiuxian paper, Xiuxian county, Qingshan Reservoir, Shen Xiu, Zhou Min, Zhou Guangtian, Tao Wenshan, Chen Hui, Li Zhaohe, Wu Xiaoman, Zhang Hongqi, the old fisherman, and every record, reference, notice, press order, letter, draft and date are inventions. They correspond to no real newspaper, place, event or person.
The story borrows two real practices — sending messages through newspaper classified gutters, and hand-setting metal type — as mechanical foundations. Every person, institution and event is invented. Any resemblance to real people or events is coincidental.
